Outer lines and edges have double imaging or are blurry?

I havent seen this before when ripping my DVD's.

For some reason after Ive cleaned up the video like I usually do with AVISynth, the outer lines/edges look pretty blurry. The video seems fine and clean but the black outer lines seem blurry.

Heres a couple screenshots of what I mean.



His mouth chin and shoulders show what Im talking about the most.




His fingers mouth and outer hairlines are pretty blurry.

The picture turned out pretty good and the noise has been cleaned but those black outer lines are pretty blurry still, even though I used a sharpener on the overall image.

Is this fixable or reduceable with something I dont know about just yet?

If it wasn't in the source then you most likely created it yourself. Better might be for you to give us the script(s) you used.

The problem is only on horizontal edges. Maybe poor deinterlacing.

It was in the DVD source before I did anything to it. The IVTC didnt make it any worse.
I notice this happening when I watch it on my PC or rip it but I dont notice it when I watch it on my TV.

TV deinterlaces/ivtc's for display. PC displays don't do either.

Here you're implying it wasn't there to begin with.

You need to post some video samples. Use a program like MPG2Cut2 or DgIndex to mark a short section that clearly shows the problem then upload it to this site.

I suspect you have a field blended frame rate conversion.

If thats what it is and your suspicion is correct, what would you recommend?

To fix video that has frame rate converted with field blending you would use a smart bob like Yadif() followed by SRestore().

Though, if that's your problem, you should be seeing other obvious blending artifacts.
