I'm quite new to all this but long story short, I captured home video from those small DVDs from a DVD camcorder with Handbrake software. Then when I open them in pinnacle 15 editing program some of them are in slow motion and upon closer inspection is running at between 7 and 9 fps apposing to to the others running normally at 25fps. Is there any way of converting the mpeg 4 back to 25 fps using handbrake?? The original DVDs are lost. Will be gratefull for any help.

How does it look if you just set the framerate to 25fps in handbrake(under the video tab and framerate), convert it and try play it?

Thanx for prompt reply! If I open the respective files's properties details , the frame rate shows 24 fps but when I open it in pinnacle it shows 7.69 fps. Also the mpeg 4 file plays fine in windows media player but the problem is only when I try opening it in pinnacle.

You could try "remux" the files. For example try mp4camtoavi for mp4 files. Open the avi in pinnacle.

If it wont work then post the full details from the video. Use mediainfo, open video, view->text and copy the information.

I converted the mp4 to avi but apart from losing alot of quality and 16:9 view, pinnacle 15 did not want to open it.
This is all the info as described by Mediainfo:
    Hope this helps...

  7. Try use Mp4Muxer to remux to MP4 with the frame rate you want. First use the Demux option to demux the streams, then use the Mux tool to remux them.

You used VFR (variable framerate) with handbrake - next time use CFR (constant framerate) if you plan on doing farther editing. All Editing programs run CFR, so you will get sync issues trying to edit it as is unless you convert to CFR

Just forcing the frame rate won't work, because you are missing frames compared to the original. It will go out of sync if you force a constant 25p because the video will be too short for the audio

You can try to insert duplicate frames in approximately the correct positions with avisynth's DirectShowSource and ConvertFPS=true . It might go slightly in and out of sync depending on how variable the FPS was in sections. What handbrake did was throw away frames where there was little to no motion, all you're trying to do is put them back. Of course it's not perfect.

    e.g.
    DirectShowSource("video.mp4", fps=25, convertfps=true)

You might use this avs script in vdub to encoded to a lossless intermediate (e.g. lagarith, huffyuv, ut video codec) to import into your editor
