  1. If I burn the one I have, will it play in my Magnavox dvd player?

I found this thread but I don't have Nero but I do have imgburn because I burn a lot of .iso files for computer repair.

I got this from using fabdvddecrytor, at least that's what I remember using a year ago. I was surprised that it came out as an .iso. I used to use DVDShrink but it will not work on Windows 7 64-bit.

No one can know as we don't know what is in the ISO you have.

ISO is just a container and can have any number of things in it.

And many 100's of not 1000's or tens of thousands, millions (?) of people use DVDShrink on windows 7 64bit, along with myself.
So if you can not get DVDShrink to run on W7 64bit then it is something wrong on your end.

Not to mention asking if you burn an ISO you have to a dvdr, will it work on "your" "DVD Player" is pretty vague to say the least......
But we will assume it is an ISO of a DVD that is NTSC DVD compliant, it should.

Just mentioning NERO along with Imgburn say's a lot!!
    LOL!!

make sure to set dvdshrink or almost any older program that needs to access discs to run as "administrator".

  4. I kind of realized I shouldn't have asked if it would play in my dvd player, after the fact. The .iso I have is a movie I used that other program to rip. And yes, it's NTSC DVD compliant.

I haven't tried to use DVDShrink in a few years. I did build a new system this month, an 8 core. And the copy I had of DVDShrink could have been a few years old, and may have been why it wouldn't work on my Windows 7 Pro but my system I tried it on was a dual core, and everything else was running fine on it.

Thanks for the help. I should have put more thought in my question and should have given you more info on my systems situations. I have two computers, btw. Both have DVD burners in them.

I've ripped dvds for a while now, I just didn't know what I could do with this one. It's 7.72GBs. And I know it won't fit on a slingle layer dvd.

Just mentioning NERO along with Imgburn say's a lot!!
    LOL!!
What does that mean? I said before I use imgburn for burning .isos but I also use it for burning data disks.

almost any older program that needs to access discs to run as "administrator".
Yes, I know about that option but it still wouldn't run. But it still could have been my copy of DVDShrink. I hadn't used it in about 8 years.

Must have been a bad download on DVDShrink I had. I just downloaded it again and it installed without a problem.

Nero is a "jack of all trades, master of none" kind of program most of us hold in contempt, hence the comments. If you use Nero only for burning data discs, audio CDs and ISO images it is fine. It's not so fine to use it for anything else. For example, if you drag DVD compatible files into Nero to burn a DVD disc, Nero does some stupid stuff where it packs the BUPs and IFOs into the same sector on the disc to save space. This is technically legal, but it defeats the whole purpose of BUPs existing in the first place. They are supposed to be in different sectors from the IFOs so that if an IFO sector goes bad, the BUP corresponding to it can serve as a backup and the disc is still playable. To put it in non-technical terms, it's kind of like buying a car and deliberately throwing the spare tire into the trash just to have an empty spot where the tire used to be. You certainly can do that and the car will still operate but if you ever got into a situation where you needed a spare tire then it would seem really stupid to have deliberately thrown it away for no good reason. Nero does some other non-ideal things for VCD and SVCD formats too, although those formats are a lot less common now.

  6. I remember now why I stopped using DVDShrink. It wouldn't work with the movie I was trying to shrink.

Well, I don't use Nero anymore, but don't you need Nero to use DVDShrink?

No. There's a version that's been modified to use Imgburn, for example. (It can be found on VideoHelp's Tools page for DVD Shrink.) Or, just output the folder structure, and feed that to Imgburn.
