I'm loving this HDR stuff. I shot this last weekend.
It was a grey sweatsock day captured prefectly by the camera. No other tweaks except tone mapping. It almost looks like a creative filter, but no. That's the three snaps put together.

Is it New Hampshire? Hahahaha
Here's what I got back from Sony Vegas Dev Team:

Magic Lantern is indeed third-party firmware that runs on Canon 5D Mark II DSLR cameras. It adds a lot of very nice features, such as different framerates.

I wasn’t aware of the alternate exposure trick to capture HDR; it’s a little like RED HDRx captures in that way. More information on this workflow can be found here:

We don’t have anything that automatically merges these 60p files into a 30p HDR video. However, if that processing were done externally by some other tools, depending on what encoding it writes for the output, we could support that. Furthermore, one could also come up with a workflow in Vegas that could be used to merge the frames together (it would use a 2-frame white/black looped media with masking and math to separate and merge the frames; the result could be rendered to S-Log to preserve the dynamic range).
I’d refer this user to our “S-Log and ACES workflow in Vegas Pro 12.0” document and encourage them to provide more feedback about their needs after reading it.

So looks like I read something wrong. Maybe I was at the MagLantern site? And thought it was Sony? -
I'm using Photomatix too. The Essentials version. I like it. Lots of ways to be creative. What I need now is that one great shot.
So you're from New Hampshire? You guys have the awesome sour cream.
Did you try your MagicLantern HDR workflow? Does it work?Last edited by budwzr; 26th Oct 2012 at 10:45.

i just use the magiclantern software to set up the exposures the way i want them and it's nice to have the small text files recorded with the photos as a record of which exposures go with what.
i tried using mediachance's dynamic photo hdr5 for awhile but kept coming back to photomatrix as the composites are sharper. next i'll give corel paintshop x5 a test of it's hdr abilities.
sour cream? you sure you're not thinking of cabot? they are a vermont company.
if the sun comes out of hiding tomorrow i'm going to assault another local little mountain and look for other views.--

Your picture has great coloring, but its hard to capture open space. Like the Grand Canyon.
