  1. regarding old camera's most video is 1920 x 1080 HD format,
but recently red and sony nexcam which capture super 35mm, format 2.2 mp and higher.

    is any possibility using Material eXchange Format (MXF) todo 4096 x 2160 4k - 4.4mp or 2.2mp ?
i.e sony ex3 you can do higher rate. MPEG HD to MPEG HD422.

    hope this make sense.

  2. It really doesn't make sense. You are using image size, capture resolutions, camera firmware, codec container and for that matter photochemical processes as if they were all interchangeable.

What is it you are trying to accomplish, and why?

  3. well i cam across you can update the firmware, and if the photochemical processes save into raw file system or something that can be changeable into some sort of codec ?
i.e http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1470827/ this film shoot in sony pmw-ex3 and showing into cinema ?
how can they do the convert into 2.2 mega pixel ?

  4. That film is listed as upconverted XDCam. You can do it out of any of the major NLEs -- Avid, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro.

The actual delivery specs are here: http://www.dcimovies.com/

    4.2. Compression Standard
The compression standard shall be JPEG 2000 (see [ISO/IEC 15444-1]).

I would recommend contacting the major post-production houses in your area and asking there about converting your show. If this is for a film festival, request their specs.

This is still a big deal requiring major computer power and a pretty big investment to do properly.

Shooting 2k or 4k with a Red or Alexa in the first place is the best way forward.

  5. thanks for your quick reply smrpix
yes your rite i was reading this reviews they got really lowest budget ever it produced.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsters_%282010_film%29

and the camear equipment only for $15,000, due to low budget the use of prosumer cameras to capture digital video rather than the more expensive 35mm film.

  6. It doesn't say which camera they used. But XDCam cmeras with GOOD lenses can get excellent images. $15,000 sounds a bit low, so I'm guessing there's some in-kind, borrowed and amortized items in there. Maybe some lying one way or the other.

If you want to see an eclectic combination of different cameras try Red Tails

edit: You said EX3 in an earlier post. You can get good pictuires with it (and meet the budget) but it's not going to be elegant.
