  1. All network traffic is IP address based. A DNS server converts sever names to IP addresses. So when you enter VideoHelp.com in a browser's address bar the browser contacts a DNS server to see what IP address is associated with that name (currently 85.17.24.140). Then it goes to read the web page using that IP address, not the name. The hosts file is the first place the system checks when performing a DNS lookup.

Did uninstalling sendori fix problems? If not, you might try Combofix at http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix, and the download link for Combofix is just below the "Using Combofix" line on that page.

  4. I have to say yes. Thus far I have not had any issues since uninstalling Sendori & manually removing all registry entries.

Thanks to all for your help! This has been the worst pc issue I've had in years, and thanks to your help, we were able to locate this stinky, behind the scenes program.

    Again, thanks to all!!!

Did you simply uninstall Sendori via Add/Remove Programs, or did you use Revo uninstaller or other uninstaller? Interestingly McAfee/SiteAdvisor states no significant problems were found for Sendori.com at thttp://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/sendori.com/msgpage, but reviews there show a number of risks associated with it .

I have similar problems on a WinXP system and wonder if it may be caused by the same problem as the OP, but I'm not currently at the location of that PC to search for Sendori. Problems I've seen on that PC are that it won't run Windows Updates or go to any site ending in Microsoft.com and some other sites including the Malwarebytes site. Problems are present for IE7 and latest version of Mozilla Seamonkey, the only 2 browsers on that system. I've already run Malwarebytes which removed 19 malware files/registry entries, but the problems persist. Could my problems be caused by the same Sendori culprit, or might it be something else?

  6. Hi Bev,

I was lucky in that I could uninstall via Programs & Features (Add Remove Programs). But I did a search on the c: drive to find it first. My system was immediately fixed after uninstall. Go to their website and read that their program works behind various browsers, etc. Also, above there is a link to a mozilla bulletin talking about Sendori. I'd read it.. Go luck!!! I know how frustrating this can be...

Search of my C drive found no Sendori which means there must be some other cause of my problems. I'm beginning the 4 tool procedures at http://forums.g4tv.com/showthread.php?183351-Virus-Trojan-and-Spyware-Help-Hijackthis-...efore-You-Post and hope they will help resolve my problems.
