I dont understand the naming scheme of WinDV
I have files that are like WinDV-1.09-11-30_03-01.00 and another one named WinDV-1.09-11-30_03-13.00
I would think that the second one would come after the first one but this is not always the case. I should have used DVIO but I didn't and cannot get the source tapes any more so I have to figure this out.

The filename always starts with what you type in the "Capt. file:" box.

Then you always have a "."

Then you have whatever you enter into the "Date/time:" box.

    %y = year
    %m = month
    %d = day
    %H = hour
    %M = minute
    %S = second

i.e. the date+time the tape was originally shot (if someone set the clock properly in the camcorder before filming).

WinDV then fills in these values with the data it finds on the tape, to create a correct filename of the general form of what you type in the Date/time box.

    e.g. I have...
    Capt. file: D:\video\dv\DV
    Date/time: %Y-%m-%d %H-%M.%S 079

which gives files called something like D:\video\dv\DV.2007-04-03 09-26.05 079.avi (for example)

    Cheers,
    David.
