  1. I have an ASUS N56VZ-DS71 with a 6x blu-ray drive. When I try to play a blu-ray on my laptop, using any program like VLC, WMP, or the ASUS bloatware, it doesn't work. It somehow screws up with all those programs. In VLC, i have to download a DLL for it to work, but then it plays the video in a Direct3D output window which is annoying. WMP just says the discs are empty, and the ASUS bloatware (after nearly crashing windows from starting up) can't play it either.

When I put the blu-ray in our bluray player for out TV, it just plays the disc like it should. Why does it have to be so complicated for PCs, and what am I doing wrong?
