I have been using my DC10+ with pretty good results for years now when outputting to VHS, but I can't get it right for SVCD (or VCD for that matter).
The first problem I had was files made from DC10+ Studio with a size > 2Gb failed to be encoded correctly after the 2Gb mark when using TMPGenc (a-h). I can work around that for now.
Other have suggested using VirtualDub for capture and edit, but I would like to keep using DC10+ Studio if possible.
Another issue is which resolution to use when capturing to VHS and (S)VCD - again I would to use the same, but are happy to compromize if that helps.
Could someone please give me some working settings when source is a Sony Hi8 camcorder, and the target is (S)VCD ?
I am aware of most of the products available so it's more a
case of settings and product names.
Diskspace and processing time is not a problem.
Thanks

I use dc10+ to capture with latest capture software it breaks files into 2gig segments automatically... the encode with default vcd template in tmpeg... I capture at 640X480 at a 2000k stream about 15 mins per 2 gig...

Thanks for the reply.
Do you edit the AVI's and then use the "Make File" feature in DC10+ Studio, or do you encode directly ?
I have captured at 3000k. Do you think that is too high and causing problems ?
You are saying you are using the standard VCD template. Have you tried any of the SVCD templates ?
Thanks again.
