LG DH3120S Region Hack Problems

Hi, I've tried using the listed hack for this system but to no avail. I've tried typing it in quickly, slowly, turning it on and off after trying to apply it - nothing. When I try playing my R1 DVDs it simply gives me the 'Check Regional Code' message after scanning the disc.

Can anyone help?

The message you are getting means that the hack didn't work. Reasons why the hacks don't work include
1) Hardware/firmware changes during production break hacks that used to work (this happens more than you might think).
2) The hack could still wok in theory, but only on a previous version of your firmware. The current firmware disables the hack. Some players cannot be downgraded in firmware by the way. So you're on your own to try to find out (maybe on another forum dedicated to LG players) if this might be the case and if so, if you can even get older firmware (many manufacturers do NOT make old firmware available on their web sites) and if your player will let you downgrade.
3) The hack does still work, but it only works on players sold in other parts of the world such as Australia. This is because the hardware/firmware is actually different on those players from yours.
4) The hack does work on your player but the instructions were botched and are leaving out a critical step that you need to know, such as a button press on a remote control. This is not common but it does happen. Some of the people who write the instructions to use the hack codes are morons and they leave stuff out.
5) This is very unlikely but not impossible - the instructions never worked, the player can't be made region free, and someone is just making a joke with the instructions.

I have no way to know which of these applies to you but perhaps someone with more familiarity with your model will post here later. One final thing - sometimes with some players people will say things like "If you apply the current firmware from Brazil, you can make your player region free with these instructions". I cannot recommend using firmware from other regions and if you get desperate to try this, you do so with the understanding that it could destroy your player.
