I have a couple of file folders that contain multiple files (a seasons worth of a TV series in each) that I want to burn to a DVD-5 (regular sized disc.). Convertx says it will work but would be better on a DVD-9 (double layer disc.) So, I want to create one DVD file of all the files episodes for a season that I can use in DVDshrink.
Will AVStoDVD do this ? Or, would it create a number of DVD folders (one for each file/episode)?
    thanks.

Lets look at it this way. An average tv show has about 44 minutes of air time, with the rest of the designated hour used by advertising. A full season of a typical tv series has approximately 20-26 episodes. Lets call it 22 episodes. So, you are trying to pack 22 x 44 = 968 minutes, or 16 hrs onto a single layer dvd. Since you are trying to do this as dvd-video, you have to use mpeg2 video codec. The most mpeg2 video I will try to cram onto a single layer dvd is about 3hrs...maybe 3 1/2 if I'm not really picky about the quality of the encoding.

So if my guesses about your tv series are somewhere in the ballpark regarding playing time, you want to put four times that much and more onto a single layer dvd. Even if you are working with a series that is 30 minutes (22 of actual program), you're still trying to put twice as much as I would be able to stand on a single layer dvd. For this second scenario, a double layer dvd might work.

AVStoDVD will make just one dvd video as output, and you can make a menu to select each individual episode. But you have to limit running time of the dvd-video to a reasonable amount if you want acceptable quality video.

Just because all of them will fit onto a single layer dvd as H264 or xvid encoded files doesn't mean this will work when going to mpeg2 and dvd-video.
