I recently updated my windows Xp to 7 and my taskbar disappears at its whim and then reappears again when it pleases. I can live without it, but since this handy whatever is available and very convient...will somebody please tell me how I can keep it from wandering away?

Right click on the taskbar. Uncheck "Auto-hide the task bar" to keep it from disappearing. Check "Lock the taskbar" unless you want to be able to move it to a different edge of your screen.
