  1. Hi all
    I have some MKVs, MP4 and other formats and I want to edit them to remove the "F" word and other similar words from them....
    What options do I have to do this?
    Thanks

    Hi there
    Thanks for replying... I tired this but did not see any option to to edit the sound. DO I have to cut the VDO where it has "F" words or can I just mark it and put a beep or just add silence to that part?

    AFAIK you'd need an NLE editor such as Vegas to insert beeps, etc.. I believe I saw a post where someone used something like AVidemux to do that, but it involves re-encoding the audio. Or you could extract the sound track and use an audio-only editor, then rejoin the new audio track to the video. The only way to alter the video without reencoding entirely is to cut the frames with the audio you don't want. Perhaps other members will note this post and offer more suggestions.

  5. step 1: demux the video stream from the mkv file or the mp4 file;
    step 2: open the mkv file in xvid4psp and export it's audio to PCM WAV;
    step 3: open the wav file with an audio editor (like audacity), select the f word within the waveform, and replace it with silence or perhaps a tone, and export the edited track to wav;
    step 4: encode the wav file obtained at step 3, to aac, with megui; if you need stanalone compatibility, encode to mp3 instead of aac;
    step 5: use megui to mux the video track demuxed at step 1, and the aac audio track encoded at step 4; mux to mp4 container only if the video stream is H.264; if the video stream is not H.264, then mux to mkv container; if the video stream is divx, and if you need standalone compatibility, then mux to avi.

    This way, you are keeping the video untouched, and process only the audio.

    Not an issue down in Oz but I guess that goes back to our founding fathers, a bunch of petty criminals in a penal colony unlike the guilt ridden ancestors of certain other jurisdictions At the end of the day it is "we who decide to be shocked or outraged" so if you are in control of your emotions then you decide not to be outraged and shocked! Life is a lot simpler that way..
