Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> History. A few choices there.

With some sites ... facebook mainly ... I always go into ff private browsing first and exit it after exiting facebook. To clear the cookies. Which is what the history settings are also for. That's the first thing I do when installing any browser.

  4. Install Ghostery extension for Firefox it'll block Facebook trackers and Google Analytics, amongst others. You'll be surprised at the list of them on some sites, it can be a dozen or more.

install these addons in FF and get use to em. You'll have to tinker with them cause they stop a lot of tracking and ad based content...I haven't seen ads in years. Grab adblock also.

FF has a built in "NO-Tracking" option. Go to Options...Privacy and you'll see. I doubt it's a very affective option but at least its there. The addons above will stop tracking like you can't believe. With the addons above, it'll be like wearing 4 condoms to protect yourself

Yes, it's only a "request" from the browser. Many sites are ignoring it. And most of those that aren't ignoring it soon will be because the latest Internet Explorer defaults "don't track".

Oh, and don't forget, you can be tracked by Flash objects too.
