Just wondering if anyone here has used any of the filters (color correction, sharpening, etc.) in XMedia Recode. Unlike Virtualdub, it seems that you can choose only one filter at a time, meaning if you want to use another filter you have to run the video through again. Or did I miss something? I just downloaded it last night and have only used it once.

Yup. Use virtualdub, avidemux or avisynth if you want to use several filters instead.

OK, Baldrick, thanks for your response. I've used Virtualdub in the past and am familiar with its wide selection of filters and their ease of use. But there's always the number of conversions necessary since both the input and output must be AVI, especially if the file needs to be in a format to be burned to DVD. It seems to me that these extra conversions may represent a significant loss of quality. I've never used Avidemux but earlier today I read many unfavorable comments about the program on CNet. But there were some favorable ones also. If I were to decide to use it, is there reason to believe that the quality of the output video would be comparable to that of VideoiRedoTVSuite, V.4, MediaCoder, or XMedia Recode? I've often noticed that in the posts I've read here and on other web sites most of the discussion seems to focus on the features and ease of use of the software package rather than the quality of the output video. I'm much more concerned about the latter.

  4. You can frameserve out of vdub, or use a lossless intermediate (e.g. lagarith, huffyuv, ut video codec) directly to your mpeg2 encoder for DVD. This way there is no compression lossless
