Hi everyone. I need help with new CD/DVD software i am using, (EZ Label Xpress Lite).

When I am preparing to print a CD case label how do i enable it to print the dotted border around the outside WITH the prepared label together like i have shown in Picture 1?

I can seem to get the preview to show the edited and ready label, Picture 2
or the dotted outline, Picture 3
    but not both.

    It said it is HIDDEN

What does it mean by Label locked?

  3. It was free, remember?

The program was designed to be used with pre-cut, pre-sized labels. You will need to get creative to work around the lack of cut lines on the print if you choose not to stretch your graphics to the full size of the label. That is what I found to be easiest. Then add any custom text on top of it. You can create more than 1 text box, and use the "Format" button to choose the color text to make it readable against the background. You can also use the ABC button to give you curved text to better fit it into the image.

You could also stretch your image to the top, left, and right sides leaving just enough room for your text at the bottom, bringing the bottom line of the text right to the bottom to make it obvious where to cut the paper.

Or you could use microsoft paint. Click file>new and click the rectangle tool button to create a box just barely inside the white work area, save it as a jpeg file with a name like LabelBorder, and use that. If you use the "backgrounds" button and choose this file, it will automatically give you a cut line at those dotted lines that will print. If you use the "Image" button and choose the file, you can stretch the outline to wherever you want it. Make sure this is the first thing you do before bringing in your other images/text.

  4. One other helpful tip. While you are in programs>accessories>"Paint", create some colored backgrounds for your projects. Once again, click file>new, then click the "fill with color" paint bucket tool button, choose a color from the color palette, and click on the work area. Save these as "light blue", "yellow", etc. as jpeg files. In EZlabel, using the "backgrounds" button to bring this file in will fill your background with color, or you can use the "images" button to bring it in and stretch and move it or bring in more than one color for backgrounds.
