Please help!
I've been recording from a hand-held video camera, but I've recently discovered that the camera records in a format (mpgv) that is not compatible with the software that I am using. The obvious answer is to use some other software to convert is to a use-able format. However, I cant find an easy way to convert it to an avi of decent quality, which is the only format that the software recognises.
Any suggestions?

I'm not trying to be facetious here, but maybe you need to use new software.
Anyway, to deal with the problem at hand, Xvid4PSP is easy to use and can convert to AVI format. You'll get better quality the higher the bit rate you use, so you probably want to manually set the bit rate. 4000 Kbps should be enough for standard definition resolution video. Use a higher bit rate if you have high definition video. -
New software: not an option.
Thanks for the Xvid suggestion though! It works like a charm.
