I'm looking for an opensource or free programs that can join wmv clips without the re encode which results to long wait. The clips that I have are split and looking for a way to join them easily and fast. Any recommendation?

Any idea why the program gave me an error saying "the application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect."? The readme file said the application was ready to use.

  3. There are some pre-requisites, see the developer's webpage

Disregard. Checked the website and had to download the C++ distributed package or something.

Is there a way to join them on a .wmv format instead of .asf?

.asf files doesn't work on my KMPlayer but they work fine on VLC. I just have a preference using KMPlayer

  6. It's the same thing : .wmv is an .asf stream

You can safely rename the extension from .asf to .wmv , or add .asf as a filetype registered to kmplayer

Found that odd too. I did renamed it to .wmv but still error on kmplayer. Checked the files types and .asf is already added by default(i have the latest version). Let me try to reinstall and see what happens

  9. hmm works ok here with kmplayer (as asf , processed through asfbin)

maybe you have it configured differently ? you can try changing the decoder or splitter for wmv or asf

I uninstalled then delete preferences and reinstall again. So I'm thinking both programs work by default but I'll mess around with KMPlayer's decoder and everything else see what I can find.

Okay so I found there's nothing wrong with my kmplayer. I tried renaming a .wmv to .asf and it worked fine with kmplayer. However, the problem occurs after joining two files from asfbin. Then that .asf doesn't play on kmplayer but plays on VLC

  12. were the clips use the same specs and use encoding settings beforehand ?

use mediainfo(view=>text) for more information on the clips

there are some advanced settings in asfbin that might help you can play with (not sure)

  14. I meant were clips 1 & 2 the same (before joining) ?

Not sure why , might be the way you have kmplayer configured (e.g. maybe you 're using default wmv codec from wmp, or maybe ffdshow (libavcodec)

asfbin is usually the most reliable for editing wmv clips , not sure if there are any other options

Clips 1 & 2 have the same mediainfo. That's ok bud. I appreciate your help on this. I'll try to mess around with the config more because I do have 4 players(KMPlayer, VLC, MPC and WMP). Can't remember though if downloaded a special codec but I had a few video issues before that involves messing with preferences. If all else fails, I can live with VLC or maybe reformat my pc which I will be doing anyway soon. Thanks again.
