I took a video and a couple pictures today at 11am. When I transfer to the computer a few hours later (same day)and go to "properties" it says
date created = 10/4/12 1:37pm
date modified = 10/4/12 11:07am
Shouldn't it be the other way around? Date created should be when I took the video/picture at 11:07am and date modified should be when I transfered it to my laptop at 1:37pm
Is my Canon or SD card getting it backwards? You can't modify something before it was created.

Check the date again in your camera. It may be off by several hours. Unlikely that computer system date is wrong but check it anyway.

I made sure that my camera and my computer are the exact date and time.
Just to check, I looked at the properties of my music files (mp3). The "date created" is 9/10/11 at 6:45pm. However, the "date modified" is 12/11/05 at 6:13pm. Again, the "data modified" is before the "data created".
If I do a copy to a new location, then the "date created" is the new date. i.e. 10/4/12 at 2:08pm but the "date modified" stays the same at 12/11/05 at 6:13pm. It almost sounds like "data modified" is when the file is created and "data created" is when the file is copied/moved/edited.Last edited by jyeh74; 4th Oct 2012 at 16:10.
