  1. Hello!

I want to connect two different PCs using Hyper Terminal. These two computers are on two different networks. T

    PC1 IP address is 192.168.2.100
    PC2 IP address is: 192.168.5.35

I want to connect them on port 8221.

I've tried all I could, but I ain't able to connect them.

I would really appreciate your help on this problem.

    Thank you

  2. Not sure what you expect to do with hyperterminal once you have the computers talking to each other.

To be able to use one computer on 2 different network, it needs to have 2 network cards. Just connect an ethernet cable from each network to the cards.

As for the port, that's software and protocol dependent.

  3. Without exact info, Application, protocols, etc
    Here's my best diagnostic start

Does your router have port 8221 forwarding in both directions?
Do you have any firewalls? are they excluding the 2 networks and port 8221?
You know the default port is 23, right? You also have to tell the remote computer that it will be receiving connections on this new port.

Most likely your subnet masks are the standard for Class C LANs: 255.255.255.0.

And since your IP addresses differ in both the 3rd and 4th slots (instead of just the fourth slot), they can't see each other even if they are directly connected.

You could attempt to change your subnet mask to 255.255.0.0, but many devices are hardwired to not let you do that for Class C addresses.

You could get a bridge/gateway (external box) or you can do what nic2k4 suggested and make one (or more) of those PCs multi-homed (aka having 2 net cards installed in one computer) - One using one subnet address and one using the other subnet.
