    Hello,
I want to take the opening song off of my blu-ray of When Harry Met Sally.

How do I do this? I have no interest in the video - I only want the audio.

    Thanks,
    Andy

You'll need to decrypt the movie first and put it on the hard drive where you can work with it. I suggest using AnyDVD HD for this (there is a trial), but if you want a free option that will work in the future, try DVDFab HD Decrypter.

Once you have it on the hard drive, get a tool called ClownBD. It is free to use. Open the blu ray movie, set your demux and remux locations to the same folder and let it examine the movie. You'll get a screen showing the chapters, video streams, audio streams and subtitles that are in the movie. Put a check mark in the box next to the audio stream that you want, and take out all the other check marks. ClownBD can leave the audio in its original format, or it can convert to AC3 for you. That's your choice on what you need, but I'd probably have it converted to AC3.

Taking just the audio means the file extension will be a bit weird, (ts, m2ts or blu ray are the only choices for output), but if you set the demux and remux locations the same, you will get two files as output from ClownBD. One should have the correct ac3 file extension assuming you have set it for ac3 ouput.

So now you have the entire soundtrack in one file. To get the opening song out of it you'll need an audio editing tool. I'd suggest Audacity with the ffmpeg plugin/library.
