    Hi.

I've been searching the Internet for days and spent countless of hours on trying to figure out why my EasyCap DC60++ wont work. I've tried drivers that work for some, and other drivers, and more drivers, but nothing seems to work! It's recognized under devices as usbtv007. I've been using the software that came along with the EasyCap, some Honestech shit, and latest Ulead VideoStudio 10, but none of them seems to find the device. Does anyone know what I can do? I'm about to give up and just give my 8mm DV's to a company who do this for money. I hope it wont get to that, cause it's crazy expensive. So please, help.

    And FYI I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.

There are many fakes of this hardware. You may have one. And the less you paid for it the greater the chances is it is fake.

The genuine article is now called Ezcap 116 - http://ezcap.tv/ .

For Ulead you could ask about analogue capture on the dedicated Ulead/Corel forum but it is my understanding that beyond WinXP VideoStudio 10 will not work.

The older easycaps, when they were genuine, came with VideoStudio 8. This software is very old now but, like I said, it does work with XP.

    DV....as in digital video?
If you've got firewire on that camera and your computer you could do all of this for free.
A real or fake EZCap is NOT the way to go when dealing with a firewire capable device.

The camera does not have firewire, it's pretty old. I just want to get my old recordings over to my PC.

Do you have any suggestion on what devices I should purchase then? I bought this very cheap on ebay.

I missed the DV part but I now suspect this camera is Hi8(analogue) or similar and not DV.

My Hi8 just has one output plug with a cable with two RCA plugs - 1 audio=mono and one video.

Please confirm the make/model of the camera just in case I got this wrong. Then we can offer better suggestions.

Sorry for bad information. It's a Hitachi Hi8 PAL VM-H660E video camera.

Nice to be right for once

Well I suggested one option - a genuine Ezcap116. You can also check the tools section on this site for other capture devices. Whatever you select WILL cost more than the few krone you parted with for that easycap but the genuine stuff should have proper Win7 drivers etc.

Another option is the obtain a dvd-recorder. Instantly make a dvd from your tapes which you can always edit later.

I have this one and love it:

I don't "love" the software but it will do the job for you.
Someone above already gave you the link to the REAL EZCap:
The genuine article is now called Ezcap 116 - http://ezcap.tv/ .

Thanks for replies! I think I will go for the real Ezcap 116 cause of the price, if I order anything over £20, I need to pay horrible customs.

    Thanks again!

The Hauppauge is sold in stores here in Germany. That is where I bought mine....just in case you cannot get an EZCap.

For seven dollars and two working days seem a fair trade.

  16. I bought the $31 thingy from Amazon Ezcaptv. Comes with non pirated software, which probably adds $5 to the price. Installed it on xp, vista and windows7, and captured with it, no problem. Here is a 1 minute capture from TV converter made with my netbook (xp sp3, 1.6Ghz Atom cpu, 1Gb Ram, 70% cpu usage during capture). Slight hickup in the beginning.

  17. I was able to use GUI for DVD Author and convert the above capture to a DVD. I first had to lop off the hickup in the beginning of the video, otherwise I got all kinds of nasty error messages from GUI for DVD Author. I used Boilsoft Video Splitter to lop off the first 6 seconds. The resulting DVD played perfectly in my old DVD player, and audio/video sync was good. The good thing about Gui For DVD Author is that it doesn't (and can't ) do any encoding, so it is very fast.
