Minicoder output is double the original length, help please?

Hi this is my first time posting here so I apologize in advance if I do/say something dumb

I'm using minicoder to re-encode dual audio dragon ball(~230mb ea) & DB GT(~250ea) to a smaller file size like say 70mb. But when it finishes, the file ends up twice as long. When I open it, everything seems fine, all the tracks are there, everything syncs up correctly, its just that after it finishes it just stays as a black screen or as the last frame of the video for the next 24min(or w/e the original length was) for example if the original file is 24:12 long, then the output is 48:24 and goes to black at 24:11 and stays like that till the end.

This may not seem like a huge deal but if I set the file size then the video bitrate gets cut in half and if I set the bitrate then the file is double the size (which defeats the purpose). The dragonball Z files don't have this issue so I've left those out. Now I've tried using freevideodub to cut out the extra part, but even though it knows how long the file is, it can't seem to detect the blank part, the dial/pointer thing just skips back to the last frame of actual video, so videodub isn't gonna work. I also tried converting the files through mediacoder; first just copying everything and then straight encoding to a higher bitrate to avoid loss in quality, but that didn't work either, same result.

My settings are at Very high quality (50mb+), container is mkv, audio is Nero aac 40kb/s and no filters. When I check the log it says the attempts to fetch mkv chapters failed 4 times with an error in the XML untill finally working the fifth time. Other than this nothing else seems to be out of the ordinary. Anyone got any ideas?

You could also try vidcoder and use similar settings.

Or else post the details from the files that ends up twice as long. Use mediainfo, open file, view->text.

minicoder was last updated in 2009. perhaps you may want to use something more up-do-date and supported. You can try TEncoder, RipBot264 etc.
