  1. I downloaded "There's Something About Mary" in .avi format...
To convert the .avi --> mpeg, I used TMPGEnc v. 2.5...
After it completed the conversion, I had no video (only audio) on the newly created mpeg...
Just for kicks I decided to burn the file anyway (after I had cut it to put it on 2 cds)...
To burn the V-CD, I used ahead NERO v. 5.5.4.0 on my CD-RW drive...
This worked alright, but the video still failed to appear...

If anyone could please help to notify what I did wrong, or why I can't do this, that would be super... (do I need a DVD-RW drive???)

Afterall, watching a blank screen isn't much fun... [/code]

  2. hmmm, maybe the avi source is defect. usually when u have used the standard options in tmpgenc there should be a video :). and nero is the right tool to burn it. when nero doesnt shows u a message that something is wrong with the file, the movie should be allright.

  3. I`ve found that if you do not have the correct divx codec`s for avi installed (eg 3.11 & 4), you will get sound & no picture.

    Hope this helps

  4. That sounds like a possibility bukky.... I think I have the newest divx, but I wil check... (is version 2.0 alpha 2 right???)

I dont think the avi source is bad, because it does the same thing with other avi files...

Would there be any other codex's that may be needed for the mpeg, or one it uses during conversion?

Whatever it is, it doesn't like mpegs after I convert them

I can play mpegs that I Down loaded with sound and video, so I confused...

I appreciate the time u guys spend to help me, considering its ur own free time... Wish u guys luck on whatever ur seeking in the forums...
