I'm ready to purchase a new camera for my daughter and I want to get it with a 32GB SDXC memory card which is formated in exFAT.
Her computer has Windows 7 and the hard drive is formated in NTFS.
I know that FAT32 works okay, but what about exFAT ?

Will she be able to copy her photos off the SDXC exFAT card to the NTFS drive ?
Is there a compatability problem ?

    (google no help)

I have never used it, but Wikipedia has a good sized article about the format and says that it's fully supported in Win 7. Based on what I read, I do not see any reason at all to worry about this.

Look here... Windows 7 is among the supported OSs. So if your card reader can deal with it, W7 shouldn't have any problems.

you'll most likely need usb3 and usb3 card reader to get full speed out of the card, if it's one of the new high speed sdxc cards. they work great, i have a couple 64GB cards that have transfer speed over 60MB/s.

  5. Yes I've seen exFAT formatted drives Win7 or any other windows OS for that matter has no trouble reading them. It's just like FAT32 except it doesn't have a 4GB filesize limit amongst other things. Even my PS3 can read the files.
