  1. Hi Guys,

I'm currently digitizing some old tapes with a Sony Compact Player J-30SDI, and Black Magic Media Express.

The tapes are Sony Digital Betacam Tapes in 16:9 FHA PAL format, and the problem I'm running into is that while I can hear music tracks and such, I don't hear anybody talking, although I can clearly see that people on screen are talking. Is there a track I'm supposed to select on either the deck or Black Magic? Any help would be great, thanks!

DigiBeta has four PCM audio tracks. You can only get two at a time through the XLR connectors on this deck. If you are using the iLink (FireWire) output, you can adjust extended menu Item 831 to select the correct audio channels.

Yes, and in the event of only being able to get 2 channels at a time, I suggest doing a logged batch capture twice (once for ch1,2, once for ch3,4). Then loading them up in sync in your NLE (they should be exact same start and end if done correctly with logged batch capture).
