I have found a link on Amazon to the Elgato which is almost as expensive as a Hauppuage. And jagabo, as usual, is correct. It only supports unencrypted hdmi.

The Elgato Game Capture HD will not record HDCP encrypted input. If your satellite box applies HDCP protection, as is often the case, you will need to find a device that can remove HDCP to connect between your satellite box and the Elgato Game Capture HD in order to use HDMI for capture.
The Elgato Game Capture HD has an internal HDMI splitter for the passthough. You would only need an HDMI splitter if the HDCP stripper you use prevents using the HDMI passthrough for some reason, or you want the Elgato Game Capture HD connected at all times, since the passthrough probably won't work unless the device is receiving power. While the Elgato Game Capture HD includes capture software that works for PCs, the only PVR software that works with it is EyeTV, which is strictly for for Macs.
The technical specs for the Elgato Game Capture HD only list 1080p, 1080i, 720p, and 576p, but say it records 1080p60 as 1080p30, which means that if 1080p50 is supported, it is probably recorded as 1080p25. As far as I know, true 1080p50 or 1080p60 capture using hardware encoding is not available using any consumer capture device at present. -
One caveat with the Hauppuage. It does not appear to have hdmi in.
From the 'tools' section, these do. But you will have to carefully check all the specs and some of these may not be UK available.

Hauppauge has an HD-PVR with HDMI in and passthrough, the HD-PVR 2 Gaming Edition. It does not include an IR blaster, and probably does not work with any PVR software at present. However it has all the same limitations as the Elgato Game Capture HD.
This is a new model. The original HD-PVR Gaming Edition does not include HDMI input or passthrough. -
not sure yet. but it would be nice to no some one who had already tryed the device . for proof that it works but i guess am not that lucky..what i really need to no is my sub box equipment protected by HDCP . if not then any HD capture card would work m8

If you are asking if any memeber on here has experience with your Sat Box then I suggest you start another topic in the correct forum with an appropiate topic header.
-
I have had a thought. Call me crazy but its worth a shot.
Your Box has a lan port which means that you can connect it direct to your PC. I read that you can download software for this purpose. If you can do that, with stream capture software you could, theoretically, be able to store direct on your PC what is being played. -
A little more info about that sample clip which may, or may not help.
I loaded the clip in to Projectx and that reported 'Sequence Header Not Found'. It's audio extraction produced two silent audio files.
I also tried Wondershare Video Converter. I normally stay clear of 1-click programs but I thought I would try it. It's preview function plays the clip but, again, there is no sound. I was able to convert it to a 1920*1080 mp4 but again it was silent.
Finally, I tried mediacoder. I did not convert from this one but again I could play the clip - although it was repoted as Mpeg-2.ts - and it had no sound.
So although we know there is sound in the clip it seems to me that the garbage at the start of it is throwing practically everything. So we need a utility (I do not have the knowledge here) that can demux the sound. The video is not the problem. Get the audio and both can then be muxed. And no need to recapture anything. -
***** Now Read This *****
The issue is SOLVED.
I ran the original clip through TS-Doctor. It reported all sorts of garbage but cleaned it up and I was able to output a working .ts clip that played in VLC. The file size is slightly smaller than the original.
Now the only issue that remains are the 001,002 etc files.
I would now ask the OP to try this progam it has a 30 day trial and the full cost at appr £30 is much less than capture cards etc that will probably not work.
I would hope that you can set up a playlist in VLC to load all the set.
Conversion can be done in handbrake. This sample produce a 32 meg mp4 with a frame size of 720*400. At full HD the file size increased to 125 meg. If you are happy to leave them as originally recorded then it is just a matter of fixing them.
I did it all very quickly so did not read up on TS-Doctor. I think it reported 4 audio streams. It outputed only 2. It said that both were 'German' but actually I just got the original English with no voice-over that was in the original clip. -
It is not protected by HDCP. i emailed the blade web site. so Elgato Game Capture HD will work....for every one else who want to know

Yeah. Let us know when you get it even if it does not work. Remember than an Elgato is marketed for game capture. No worries about HDCP there.
Any fear of you trying the method I discussed in #40 ? A whole lot cheaper than an Elgato. -
