Which blu-ray burners (internal or external, desktop or notebook) currently available are able to burn at 1x speed? Don't ask why I want to burn at 1x, I just do!

It's been my experience that burn speed is actually a function of media and burning software more than drive capabilities. I don't think any of the single or dual layer BD write once discs I have can be burned any slower than 2x. Re-writable discs may be able to be burned slower, but 2x is as low as I've ever seen on my drives. I have done 2x burns by the way and I'm not a "speed freak" at all when it comes to burning, but I don't recall seeing any of my media rated at burn speeds below 2x.

That is not correct, it is more the firmware of the burner that controls the burn speed of any given media.
I have for many years, and have just done so with a burner within the last few months.
You need to get the firmware for the specific burner, then use DVD Identifier to get the MID of the media, then use MediaCodeSpeedEdit to modify the firmware & set the burning speed to what you want for that specific media, then flash the drive with the modded firmware.
But I also have never burned any media, not in the last 10 years anyways, slower than 2x.
Don't ask why I want to burn at 1x
