Hello,
I have a blu-ray movie in mkv format in my laptop. I connected my laptop to my Full-HD Samsung Led Tv (with 200 hz updating frequency) via HDMI 1.4 connection, and I started to play it with the latest version of VLC video player.
Then I realized that the movie has judder/motion smoothing problem when the motion is horizontal.
First I thought it was because of the Tv, but then I checked the screen of the laptop, and it was same there.
I don't think it is a hardware problem in the laptop, because my HP laptop has a Radeon HD 6490M graphic card with GDDR5 and 1 GB memory.
I have tried with other mkv blu-ray film, it was same.
Do you have any idea what can cause that annoying judder?
Thanks...

Describe what you mean by "judder"
If it's a 24p blu-ray 200Hz / 24 isn't a whole number - it's not evenly divisible. Therefore judder is normal as some frames are displayed longer than others
If it's a 60Hz laptop display , 60Hz / 24 isn't a whole number either. So judder is normal there as well
If it's not judder, but a playback problem, you might try another player, like splash, mpchc, smplayer (it might be worth to try anyways) . Some versions of VLC are known to have playback problems -
What i meant with "judder" is that, actually I think you understood correctly, when the motion in the video is horizontal, the pictures don't flow smooth anymore, instead you see delays between pictures like in Charlie Chaplin movies.
and yes, the Blu-ray video is 24 fps, and I am not sure about the laptop display if it is 60 hz. It is an interesting information, thanks for that.
Right now, my laptop cable is broken, so I will check laptop screen and other video player softwares 2 days later.
Thanks a lot for the tips in anyway... -
In all likelihood your TV isn't attempting to interpolate motion from the 60 Hz computer output. It might work if you change the output to 30i or 24p.
