  1. Hello

the SSMM program that somebody mentioned - I was just on their website, and it seems like the program takes your .jpg images and converts them to an .avi movie.

If this is so, then this really decreases the quality of your images, so much so that it is really not worth it ?

I could be wrong on how this works, but I do see a lot of .avi related stuff on the link you sent, are you saying you can also just do a regular VCD with images, and NOT .avi or .mpg movies ?

    I'm puzzled now.

    Cheryl-Anne.

( Thanks to all who are jumping in on this very interesting topic )

  3. Bert,

Thank you for your info, I guess I won't even try it, - that program doesn't seem too friendly.

All I want is a simple way to do VCD image shows, and at the moment Ulead is the way to go.

I do also like XAT, www.xat.com - they don't have albums though, it just loads all the images into one folder, - it's good if you want one continuous presentation, but it is not good if you have 300 photos.....

there's no way to go to number #250 , if you stopped there, and a week later you want to start at #251.

    thanks again.

    Cheryl-Anne.

  4. Hi,

    posted this before ...

Best program I knew is Ulead Video Studio 5. Nice engine. Many transitions, 2 or 3 sound tracks, video filter (animating the stills), full control in project and output and a burning modul for direct output on vcd, svcd or dvd. VST6 supplies more effects but I' m not sure about the quality of its engine.

Try it - free for 30 days from Ulead site.

  5. Hi There, I mentioned ssmm for a work around on the music continuing issue. And yes, the output is avi, the final quality ouput really depends on the quality of the original photos. I have done a few avi movies and converted them to svcd using dvd2svcd (manual VBR), the quality is stunning. Make sure you have divx 5 codec.

I am sure there are commercial and other products that offer more features for still images slide show. SSMM is one of the free alternatives :) and certainly not a one push button slolution.

    Cheers.

  6. Cooledit is a good progrem to manipulate music. You can merge, fade in, fade out, increase amp; decrease amp. You can even play music backward if you are of a mind to (sounds awful).
