I was wondering something. Does using a home nas for streaming media count against your web data cap?

I recently bought a pogoplug pro and I'm starting to use it for my tablet. I can do sd video files, music and pcitures with it.

I use the pogoplug app on the table to access the harddrive I have connected to the pogoplug hardware unit which is connected to my wireless router via a lan cable. My usb harddrives are connected to the pogoplug hardware.

My question is if I were to stream a video that is a 1 gig will this show up as a 1 gig hit against my data cap?

I don't know why it would if it does. Technically speaking you're not accessing the web to download the file. True its not a point to point physical access job as you are using the pogoplug server to access the files (as I understand it) but the files reside locally not on another interent server.

Now I am with comcast and they have something like 250gb or is it a 280gb cap? I won't be close to maxing that out but I was wondering if I were to do a ton of video streaming of my local files to my tablet would this show up byte for byte on my cap hit? Or is it a percentage of that since the files aren't actually being downloaded from the internet but merely being accessed by the internet based software?

    Thanks for any info.

Like I said I'm not in any danger of hitting my cap but I was curious if the local nas streaming impacts the data cap or by how much if its a percentage.

    Thanks.

Oh this is wireless to my tablet fyi.

Edit - oh my tablet does have a sd card slot and I bought some extra sd cards when I bought my tablet. But by getting the nas I have two large harddrives that I can hook up to the nas. Also its a lot easier to access videos and music by the original folders (well the ones copied to the harddrives) then by sorting through a handful of sd cards. Also its not like you can easily label an sd card to know whats on it. And they are micro sd cards to boot ( with the adapter case as this is a full sd slot on the tablet).

  2. How this video can go against your data cap limit if your data don't leave your house?

Comcast have dedicated web page for you where you can monitor your data usage. http://customer.comcast.com/

Well I wasn't sure how it was working completely. I know the app access the web but the file is stored locally. So if the app is just using a fraction of bandwidth and the actual file streaming is totally done "in house" literally then it should be just like basic web surfing.

Thanks for the link but I've already been to the monitoring page for Comcast.
