I tried to hard sub a avi file through virtual dub.
When i viewed the output video subtitle is there but it appears like this:
    <font face =Microsoft sans serif> the subtitle <font>
Why all those irritating tags?? I need only the subtitle to be visible. How to make all these unnecessary font tags not to appear in the output video?please help
I am using Virtual Dub 1.9.11_4 with vobsub installed.

  4. So VirtualDub is not fully support SRT format. this is a similar case for youTube.

With SubtitlePlus software, it is simple way to solve you problem.
File->Import your SRT data, and then File->Export to save as SRT format with "YouTube" check on.
