    256 bit integer simd extensions, that alone should be enough reason to upgrade to Haswell as soon as software comes out that uses the new instructions (i'm assuming x264 will probably be one of the first). man i hope amd get their act together, it's not like they can't build a kick ass processor, they've proven in the past that they can, management just needs to squeeze their asses out of their heads.

    thats assuming for those who will be able to afford it...Intel isn't exactly the most cost conscious chip maker out there...they certainly aren't gonna swing any significant deals when it comes out to the public.

    i would expect it to be priced comparably to what SB/IB are priced.

    Actually they are the most conscious chip maker, you just need to find the right processors for your needs and price point, big chance are it'll be better than the competitor.
