    If you are using Windows 7, also check your windows sound settings.
    Go to control panel then the "sound" item. A window with tabs marked, playback, recording, sounds, communication should open up. Select the communication tab and check the "do nothing button". I have not test this yet but sounds to me like that may have an effect on Skype.
