    If you have installed only ffdshow and no other AC3 decoders (like AC3Filter), then AVStoDVD takes care to properly setup the output mixer, thus channels and dynamic ranges are kept.

    If the audio has been lowered (don't know how), you can anyway tweak it using the Normalize option or the Amplify Audio option. Both of them works on all the channels, no risk to have them messed up.

    "keep dvd audio compliant" in 2.4.2 release is the same as "audio direct stream copy" in 2.5.0 Alpha release. In the newer release I have just changed the option label to be more clear.
