  1. This is the first time I have tried to split a movie and I seem to be doing somthing wrong. I captured a svhs tape and converted it using TMPGEnc from it's avi format to an mpeg1 ntsc format, the mpeg1 file I now want to make into a vcd is 956 mb in size, so, I opened up TMPGEnc and went to the merge and cut tool, I loaded the mpeg file and used the slide bar to pick a stop point, I clicked ok and got this error msg "at address 73F91D04 error occured against address 73F91D04" so I then closed the TMPGEnc program, re opened it and went to the merge and cut tool again, I reloaded the mpeg and instead of using the slide bar, I used the counter and selected a stoping point in the movie and once again hit the start button, and once again I got the same error msg. Any ideas on my next move? Thanx in advance for any help.

  2. You can either 1) Round off the point you selected to the nearest second (using the up and down arrows next to the time), or do what I do and just ignore it - it will work fine anyway.

The only thing with TMPG and cutting is its not 'frame accurate', meaning the point you choose to cut at may in reality be a couple of seconds ahead or behind where you think it is. No big deal, but I thought I'd mention it.

  3. Ok, I ignored it, what it did was create two files for each half of the movie, but, under the files properties the format type said file, why not mpeg1, I can do nothing with the files it creates, not even play them on my pc with windows media player like I can on the captured movie I want to split, I am chosing mpgeg1 video cd in the drop down type box, what am I doing wrong here? Thanx

  4. Did you encode the original MPEG1 file at standard VCD specs? 1150b/s, 352x240, 29.97 frame rate, etc...

If not - use the MPEG1 (non standard) setting in TMPG and re-split it.

And try rounding off the start/end points to whole seconds like I mentioned before.

I don't know if you want to use a different program but the best one I have found for doing this is bbMPEG. Info on how to use it can be found here at,
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/bbmpegedit.htm.

The only difference in this page is that you would have to change to the correct format in Program and Stream Settings.
    Hope this may help.

  6. Yes JJ, I used the standard, and I tried rounding off. I have a mainactor software that came with my dazzle hollywood bridge, are u familiar with that software, I also have mgi videowave4, I'm stuck, I've played with this damn thing most of the day, I just can't believe it's that hard of a thing to do. Thanx for your responses.

  7. P.S. Next time I might just capture the svhs in two parts and not have to worry about this splitting stuff. :-?
