How to play M2TS from Blu Ray in Windows Media Player, including DTS-MA HD.

Hi, I want to know the easiest and simplest way to be able to play a m2ts file taken from a blu ray in Windows Media Player (NOT Windows Media Centre, and I don't want to use another player like VLC). I can play the video OK, but I want to be able to play the DTS-MA HD audio tracks with it through my regular 2.0 stereo speakers (which Cyberlink PowerDVD does fine) and have some way of switching between audio tracks while i'm watching the video file. What is the easiest way to do this? (Ideally without installing a whole codec pack? Could you just give me the individual codecs needed) and if possible how to install them if they're difficult.

I tried those, and they let me choose the audio track, which is nice. but the DTS-HD MA tracks don't play, I just get silence. If the codecs are included as part of Cyberlink PowerDVD, is there any way I could copy the DLLs somewhere to get the audio to play in WMP?

there is no way to play the actual dts-ma. if you get it to decode it will be playing the dts core. dts-ma would have to be bitstreamed out over hdmi to a dts-ma capable amp. you could convert the dts-ma to flac and play that.

LAV Audio can use Arcsoft's TMT DTSdecoderdll.dll, if you copy it to the folder where the LAV Filters were installed on.

Also, you can configure LAV Audio to do a proper stereo downmix, if I am not mistaken.

If you're using WMP under Windows 7, then you should be sure WMP is using LAV Audio.
By default, Microsoft always complicates things to the end-user.

Note: The preferred filter settings only apply to DirectShow filters. It will not have any effect on files that are played using the Media Foundation framework! For example .m2ts and .mp4 files are played using Media Foundation. The tool also has specific tweaks to disable Media Foundation and other playback components from Microsoft.

As you should perceive, it's not a good idea to choose WMP as your preferred Media Player.

Exactly, it is much easier to use VLC, MPC-HC, Potplayer, etc, heck download several of them, it won't hurt.

Well using the windstweaker tool i've disabled windows media foundation completley, 32+64 bit. So surely LAV should be playing the files then? I know this because with Media Foundation disabled, I can change audio streams in WMP (but still don't hear the DTS-HD streams though)

OK, a little update. If I mux the m2ts (with the original audio tracks, including the 24-bit DTS-HD MA streams that I was having trouble with) into an MKV container, the audio then plays in WMP fine, even without needing to have dtsdecoderdll.dll in the LAV audio directory :S :S :S Very confused now but at least it works...
