I've been reading a lot lately on this subject and a lot of people out there love the DSLR capabilities for HD video. I'm not quite sure why cause I don't know a heckuva lot about HD cameras or DSLR's stuff etc...but I thought I'd ask in here...What would you have to shoot HD video...a camcorder or a really nice DSLR?

It depends what you want to use them for. There are plenty of threads discussing this.

I made the transition to DSLR for video last year. Started with a Canon T3i and have added a 7D to the arsenal. It is a bit of a learning curve at first but the quality for the price is excellent. The biggest advantage is the lense choices. Being able to use a choice of high quality prime lenses makes all the difference. Stabilization is the big issue but a decent rig solves that. I thought I would still have to rent a Sony or Ikegami for some work but that is no longer the case. Then there is the advantage of havng high quality still cameras at your disposal as well...and all those lenses.

Lots of people do HD video for You Tube on DSLR's my favortie Skyy John who used a Cannon D3 Rebel I believe with various lenses. He started his channel with a one of those HD pocket USB camcorders however.
Project Digital: Eliminate All Physical Media is finally underway!
