Eh. So I have an MKV I made a while ago using either MakeMKV, MMG, or a combination of the two. It was made from one of my blurays, so every track is of course fully bluray compatible. What I want to do is basically the opposite of what MakeMKV does: Convert the MKV back into a BDMV structure - something that just plays when the disc is popped in.

I tried my hand at MultiAVCHD but it remains a little counter-intuitive. Despite my having specifically told the program not to transcode the MKV in question (via the Transcode button), it seems to want to do it anyway. But I can't tell for sure, because once it's done, it has in fact generated no files at all and the app remains stuck in a semi-frozen state.

    Alternatives?

Alas multiavchd is abandonware, no longer updated so that might be part of your problem.

Try bdrebuilder. Though I don't have a bluray burner so I have no bluray authoring experience to offer. However I have made my share of avchd discs, close but not the same.

Edit - sorry disregard bdrebuilder. Apparently it is the bluray equivalent of dvdshrink, meant to transcode an existing bluray to fit single layer bluray discs. I'm afraid I don't have a recommendation right now. However if it is truly bluray compliant any real bluray authoring program should accept it as an input source. You would then be able to build a new bluray from there just as if you had a mpeg2 video and were trying to author a dvd.

tsMuxeR is what you need. Set output to Blu ray disc.

And if you just want a harder way of doing it, you could demux the mkv file with mkvtoolnix + MKVExtractGUI-2, then use the audio and video streams as input for EasyBD Lite. Always good to have options.

Thanks, all. Yes indeed, options are the antidote to the unexpected impasse.

Edit: Such as the apparent fact that Tsmuxer doesn't know what to do with certain kinds of audio track.

And EasyBD Lite doesn't seem to like DTS-HD MA either. Neat.

Alright, I've tried converting the DTS-HD MA to a wav file and EasyBD is still not happy. Just what will it take to turn this MKV back into a bluray?

Glitches are a way of life in video it seems. Try using ClownBD, using the MKV input option, and convert the DTS-HD MA audio to AC3.
