I have a project which requires a bit of knowledge from several forums here, but I'm posting here to get an overview.
I need to record 20-minute presentations (audio and video) and upload them to a file-sharing website with minimal user intervention. My considerations are:
- As I'll be uploading a presentation whilst recording the next, it would be ideal to record directly to a laptop, via USB?
- I'll need to trim the start/finish points of the file, without re-rendering the whole thing as I'll be uploading it whilst recording the next presentation.
- The quality isn't the most important factor here, but a good file size is. Obviously the camera will need to output in the best format for my needs (one that will allow me to trim without rendering, and that has good compression for a low file size). Any suggestions?
Can anyone offer some advice and/or point me in the right direction please?
Many thanks,
Steve

Maybe youtube?
You can record directly on youtube from a webcam, http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=57409 . You can also edit on youtube, http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=183851 . Youtube has a 15 minute default limit but it can be increased , http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=71673 -
THen I don't know. I have just used windows live movie maker to record some short camera clips.

Thanks Baldrick - I'd started to look at that myself, because it looks like it can record video and audio from different sources - I might even just use a webcam!. I wonder whether it can output in MP4 with H.264 codec?
