  1. I've been trying to work on editing some MP4 files and clean them up. I'm using a copy of Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 that's fully updated. For some odd reason when I open or import the videos there is a strange audio glitch showing up where it will play fine for 29 minutes, and then for another 29 minutes it will repeat the first second of audio. Then after that it will do the same thing over and over playing the first 29 and then doing the second repeat. I have no idea why it's doing this and it's driving me crazy because I can't find a solution anywhere. Does anyone have any ideas what's going on?

It is a MP4 with AAC-LC audio or something else? And if it is AAC-LC is it 2.0 or 5.1 or what?

How do I tell? These recordings are done through procaster from Livestream so I don't really know the audio.

Livestream Procaster usually uses an mp4 container with video format H264 and audio format AAC. I found the information after a little digging

Download and install a program called MediaInfo

Load the file into that and switch to TEXT view. That shows you all the info you need. You can even post that here (in fact I suggest you do that).

Well I don't see anything weird about the video nor the audio in this file. Seems pretty standard for a MP4 file.
Not sure why you are having a problem with it. Only thing I can think of is that you are using Vegas Pro 9 and Sony is up to Vegas Pro 11 now so maybe Version 9 can't properly handle MP4 files? I don't know.

I would try to convert the audio to a standard PCM WAV audio file and then load that after you load the video and basically use the PCM WAV audio file instead of the audio file that is muxed in with the video. See if that works.

tsMuxeR can demux the audio stream from a MP4 file. You can then convert that to WAV using any number of free tools.

I gave it a run, and it says it can't recognize the track and won't let me demux it.

I just loaded a MP4 file with filename.mp4 into tsMuxeR and it was able to demux the audio and it was the same kind of AAC-LC audio. Either you aren't doing something correctly in regards to tsMuxeR or the file is somehow corrupted.

Considering how crazy Procaster is with recording I would not be surprised if it was corrupted. I do have a few ideas with Audacity since the file will play but it's gonna take some effort I guess. Nuts.

Well you could try to install YAMB which is another program that should be able to demux the audio from a MP4 file. Maybe see if it works where tsMuxeR failed.

Huh, it worked. It looks like it fixed whatever was going on and the tracks were recognized after that. I'm gonna check the file on Vegas 9 after I finish rendering another video I have going right now. Thanks!
