  1. I have a video file (an .avi to be exact) with:
    Resolution: 1280x720
    Video Format: XVID
    File Size: 650mb

I have good knowledge in converting video files using ffmpeg, my question is: is there a way to lower the file size without changing the quality of the video? I'm ok with any video format. Can you please help?

No. Any conversion to a lossy codec will cause the quality to degrade. You may not be able to tell, but it's a fact. Now, can the size be decreased with little change in quality? Yes, and maybe so little you can't tell. Try converting to x264 with either the original audio, or AAC.

I know nothing about ffmpeg, but there are plenty of programs out there that will take an XviD AVI and convert it to x264.
