so you want to cut off portions of the left and right picture? 1920x1080 is 16/9 you can do the math your self if so. x/(1080-134)=16/9 then 1920 - x will give you want to cut off the sides.

HD TV's are 1:78 or 16:9 full screen. Most movies are shot in 2:35 AR which means they will display on your HDTV with black bars at the top and bottom. Do you want to make a 2:35 movie appear full screen without black bars?

The movie is from a 16:9 bluray when i crop 134 on the top and bottom, it gets aspect ratio 2,35:1

But i want to keep aspect ratio 16:9 without black bars.

the only way is to cut off parts of the picture on the left and right. or use the remote control and adjust the tv picture size which would accomplish the same thing.

No you don't. It's an idiotic idea. You either crop (lose) about a third of the picture from the sides and keep the aspect ratio, or you ruin the aspect ratio by stretching it back out to 1.78:1. Don't do it.

As aedipuss suggested, use the zoom on your remote control to see the damage it does.

Ok, I drop the idea and just use 2,25:1

  8. I suppose you're making MKVs or MP4s from Blu-ray. You could use RipBot and have it automatically crop the picture (access it under Properties). It gets it spot on most of the time, but you need to examine the numbers and use the preview as well. Once in a great while, it will get the numbers wrong.
