    Thanks

After saving a clip. On playback the video is frozen for the first few seconds, then comes back in sync.

So I guess I need a program that will let me cut on non keyframes. Can someone recommend another simple program? I just need to be able to cut and copy sections from Xvid files

  6. You don' t need to cut on keyframes with xvid in avidemux - it will do "smart rendering" (re-encode the frames within the GOP of the cutsite) .

You can try vdub as well (it can also smart render xvid if you set it up properly)
