  2. Sounds like you are looking for a "universal solvent." The extraction tool has to know about the container in question. Also if the subs are in a graphical format you may have to extract them and do OCR. There is no "one size fits all" tool. That's why you have a software toolbox. Not just one pair of pliers.

    The only universal method for "any format" is to type them in yourself.

    Otherwise you have to work out what kind of subtitles are in the file and then use the appropriate way to extract them.

  4. i think mkvtoolnix is used to extract subtitles from mkv files.
    but how to extract it?
    tell me the procedure.

    Subtitle Edit can extract subtitles from mkv / mp4 / dvd / divx + reads more than 100 subtitle formats!

    But that still leaves hardcoded subtitles, ts files, and probably a few more
