    Hello,
first I've got to introduce myself, I'm a person who doesn't spend too much time on video conversion because i don't convert so much ... but still, I've got some movies that i which to reduce to 700MB by converting them into AVI Format in order to put them on my computer, right?
Now, as I don't want any quality losing, I always converted them with option Xvid 2 pass, all settings on maximum, I can't give you screenshots because I don't know how does it works...
At first goes everything okay, but know there's something that I can't understand, I've been token at least 6 months to understand the cause of the trouble, but I still doesn't know how to fix this up...
Here's the trouble: at first, to convert a video from 1.30 hour with one language, it took no more than 6~7 hours, it's good for me as I'm not in a hurry to have them converted but know when I try to convert the same video (from 1,30h) or any others, it takes no shorter than 27 hours at the speed of 4,9fsb!!! I think there's something miss with my f*cking hardware, but I'm not sure because other video converters takes no longer than 7 hours, with all quality on high, to do the job. What's happening? Do I do something miss to convert? I haven't had any troubles before

I've got the VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.2 (build 2542/release) with 121 filters and all plugins and codecs installed (Xvid 1.2.2 for the video encoder), i uninstalled and re-installed them severals times but there's no change. I tried to convert my video with exactly the same settings than the ones who passed; nope. I also tried other video compressors/converters but I don't like them because there are either too complicated or they haven't got all the options I wished. Finally, I tried a complete virus check-up with my Kaspersky antivirus and a complete reseting of my computer and I give up...
The only think I noticed is that, before IT happens, I had at least 25 fps conversion speed, now i only got 5!!!

So, if anyones has that trouble before or COULD have an idea about the trouble, would he be kind enough to explain it to me? Thanks so much in advance! :P
    Tom.

Nandub has been obsolete for maybe 8 years now. You really need to use something else. I'd suggest Xvid4PSP but there are other options. Xvid4PSP has the ability to take advantage of multi-core architectures. VirtualDub has ALWAYS taken longer to encode with than any tool for me and I have used it only when it's been the only thing I had access to that could do a specific job like I had a file I wanted to encode but I couldn't get Dr. Divx or Divx Encoder to work with it.

You are using a dual core laptop that is a few years old and it's certainly not going to offer you great performance compared to modern multi-core CPUs but Xvid4PSP should offer you some speed improvements over what you are getting now.

On a related note, keep in mind VirtualDubMod also hasn't been updated since 2007. You might try the latest version(s) of its parent program, VirtualDub, to see if it works at all better for you. (You don't have to get rid of VirtualDubMod in favor of VirtualDub; I usually have both set up on my systems, for example. Also, make sure your filters and plugins are all up-to-date, just to be safe.)

thank you very much for your both answer...
so, as you're telling me I haven't got a powerful enough machine to run at high speed conversion. Thanks anyway for your answer; I'll still try the software you're suggesting, but may I ask you if you can convert using that software, with the same settings that VirtualDubMod, in a a (very) good quality image for a movie of 1.30 that I wish to reduce to 700MB?
