Converting MP4/AAC to AVI here for watching on TV without direct MP4 support and just wondering if there's an easy way of directly transcoding AAC audio into either AC-3 (Using TMPGEnc AC-3 encoder) or MP3 (LAME)?

I'm currently just extracting to WAV and then converting that, but was wondering if there's a more direct route to doing this?

    Cheers.

  3. Try ffcoder. You can load all the common video containers for converting, but it also gives you an option to either copy or disable the video (or audio) when converting. In fact you can open an MP4 and simply select AC3 or MP3 as the output format. It'll also downmix and normalize the audio if you want it to.

MeGUI is another encoder GUI which is also a very good audio converter. I'm pretty sure you can directly load video files (MP4, MKV, AVI etc) into it's audio section and convert the audio within without the need to extract it first.
