  1. Hello there. I've come to this site many times over the years and find it to be a wealth of knowledge and software for anything video/audio related. I have one question that has been bugging me for the longest time.

A few years ago, I was searching for video players that can handle HD video with the least strain on CPU. I remember coming across a free software program that claimed to be very efficient at decoding HD video, and was touted as "much faster than VLC media player". It claimed to be more efficient because it had "true multi-core support", or something like that. I'm sure there are many programs out there like that now, but this one I'll know when I see it again. I know that programs come and go, and this one that I'm looking for may no longer remain in development, but my curiosity persists. If it helps, I remember the website for the program being a white background with blue text, and kind of a blue theme. The name of the program may have been an acronym, but I'm not sure. Does this ring a bell to anyone? Any suggestions of highly-efficient HD media players with multi-core support will be greatly appreciated, even if it is not the specific program that I'm looking for. Thanks for any help in advance!

  2. Thanks a lot for the suggestion! However, I don't think this is the one I've been looking for. I've used this player in the past, and had some problems with it, but I'll update it and see how it works for my needs.

I'm trying to remember more about some details of the player's website, but the problem is that homepages change with the tides.

I do remember the program looking kind of bare-bones, kind of like VLC and MPC; nothing fancy. I hope that helps a little.

Thanks again, and any more suggestions are appreciated!

Indeed I have. And thanks again. The main problem with my quest is that most of these players may not look the same now as they did a few years ago. But you never know!

Good luck. I would say that the players most often referred to around here would be MPCHC, VLC & Potplayer.
