Try burn it on dvd as a data disc. Use UDF 2.5 mode. Use for example imgburn.

If it wont play you could try convert it to AVCHD with for example avchdcoder.

Or just stream it from your computer with PS3 Media Server.

I thought PS3 can play mp4 files directly if burnt onto data disc. You have to connect the PS3 to the internet and enable wma playback.

If its subtitle support you need than you will have to "hardcode" it into the video itself. You can do that with handbrake (use add all and check off the "burned in" option on the subtitle tab when you go through the setup of the video itself. Format factory is another one you can use if you would like.

If you have a large collection of videos like this and don't like the idea of reencoding all of them you should consider investing in a settop media player that handles original files with subtitle support. Something like a wdtv media player can read them off a usb harddrive without conversion (well MOST videos, there might be a few rare oddball videos that even it can't play but probably not). You should be able to get earlier models at a good price on places like ebay or amazon.

Otherwise you'll have to load them up into a converter program and select encode subtitles into video (hardcoding or "burned in" as handbrake calls it). Most if not all do have batch modes so you don't have to wait for one to finish before doing another.

Edit - or stream them as Baldrick suggested. Ps3mediaserver or playon or tversity will work but your computer must be on to do this and its best to do this with a wired connection for stability.

edit - you can also use ripbot 264 to hardcode subtitles. As do a lot of other programs.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
