    Hi all,

I'm using SubRip to "rip" subs off a DVD and I frequently come across the following garbled-ness (is that even a word?) when ripping. It does probably 75% of the subtitles fine, but get this the rest of the time.

Is this a setting that I need to change in SubRip, or is it just crappy quality subtitles on the DVD?

Note: I know that you can fill these items in SubRip manually, but others are more garbled than this one and basically unreadable.

    Welcome Tangles

More straight forward to use pgcdemux to rip sub and then dvdsubedit to convert sub to srt for editing.

As for subrip generally there's not much that can be changed to improve recognition of characters except make some changes in the "advanced ocr" option accessed from top menu. The settings by default are almost at max.
